Doctor Says, “Video Games Distort Reality”
Perhaps the experts that Senator Hillary Clinton quotes in her quest to Ban Violent Video games include none other than Dr. Sears. In our investigation of the topic, The Brig has come across a popular website that is frequented by Parents. AskDrSears.com has a very extensive article about the damages that violent video games can cause and the threat to sound child development that they pose.
Quoting “Disturbing Stats” and “Disturbing Research”, Dr. Sears goes on to state in very “clinical language” that video games “condition children to be violent” and desensitize children to violence. The good doctor doesn’t stop there however, He continues on to make the sweeping claims that Video games DO cause physiological disturbances in children such as creating hormonal imbalances, nightmares, stomachaches, headaches, fatigue, and even anorexia.
The Article doesn’t stop here, Dr. Sears Claims that video games are more dangerous than TV and can cause children’s self esteem to suffer.
It’s Good to see a trusted medical professional such as Dr. Sears weigh in on this increasingly controversial topic. While failing to quote the sources of his “disturbing stats” Dr. Sears has not been limited in his suggestions that Video games cause more damage to children than say the “live” coverage of the Iraq War, Live coverage of L.A.’s car chases, neighborhood gangs and the latest sensationalized crime dramas.
Perhaps Dr. Sears should become the Surgeon General under Senator Clinton if she makes the Oval Office, he already has his stamp made up for video games.
