Business 3: New Site Launched
Last night I managed to get a new site launched. I’m still tweaking the site so, I’ll post the URL sometime later today once I get everything working the way I want.
Here’s what I did last night:
- On Godaddy they have an automated software installation service, I used it to install Wordpress 2.2.1 (out of date I know)
- I found a theme that would work well with the niche of computer stock analysis.
- set up the title, subtitle and changed the widgets on the page.
- Installed the feedburner replacement plugin and created a feedburner feed for the site
- Installed the Google sitemap plugin and created the sitemap.xml file
- Used the Google webmasters tools to tell google about the site and select the default domain name.
- Copied over the robots.txt file
- Added Google Analytics code to the footer of the page
- Chose a better format for the URLs than “?p=123″
Then this morning:
- Decided to try out Wordpress 2.3 so I upgraded the site.
- Found a product on ClickBank that related to the niche.
- Wrote the first post for the site.
- Checked all the links on the site, and made sure Google analytics was working.
- Added the site to my roster at NeverBlueAds (Great Affiliate marketing ads)
Today I’ll be working on getting lots of traffic to the site. I’ll spill all the details about it in my next post this evening. Stay tuned.

Hi, nice work you have done here!
I am also thinking of moving to a paid provider. And to wordpress, because I find blogger a bit to restrictive.
I wonder what are your experiences with godaddy. it is cheap, but is it reliable?
I haven’t had any problems with my domains that are hosted with godaddy. Their service is surprisingly good in my experience, except that they keep sending me promotional emails every 2 days. The basic hosting costs something like $3.50/month so it’s hard to go wrong. With the click install of wordpress it literally takes about 10 minutes to have a blog up and running. I would definitely recommend GoDaddy to anyone looking to buy a domain and hosting.
My personal blog is run through blogger but hosted on this server. it’s not nearly as customizable as a self-hosted wordpress blog.
