The best money you can spend

Digg this story ?

Over the years I’ve spent thousands of dollars on various ebooks, and reports, and software to help me learn and make more money online. After everything I’ve done and read I’m well on the way to making some serious coinage.

I wouldn’t take back any of the things that I’ve spent money over the years. Every book has shaped my mind and left an impression that will determine the decisions I make and the future I will have.

But what have been the best buys?

The best things by far haven’t been information products. Indeed, 90% of the information you need to make huge amounts of money is available for free in promotional content by various marketers.

The biggest thing is the services you actually need. With the pieces in place making money is just a matter of putting sentences together.

Here’s what you need:

  1. Wordpress - This software is free and simply amazing for quickly putting up websites. Take one day to learn how to install, and manage this software. Find the best plugins and keep them on your computer so that you can minimize the time it takes to set up new websites.
  2. Auto Responder - I use AWeber and it is awesome. Wicked high deliverability and easy to use, AWeber makes managing 100,000 emails trivial. This is something you should be using right from the start. The price is pennies compared to what this tool wil make you. Growing an email list is THE KEY to long term success because an email list is perhaps your businesses best asset.
  3. Hosting - I use a number of different hosts for my websites. You can get a website that can host just about any number of domains for less than $10/month. Hosting companies like GoDaddy, HostGator, BlueFur are all pretty good. These cheap accounts can handle just about anything.

Using just those services and software you can launch a million dollar business. Seriously. Taking the attitude that I can buy and launch a new website every other day building up a collection of domain names and websites. Why own one website when you can own 20, 30, 100, or 500 websites?

The last few websites I’ve launched have followed this pattern:

  1. Find an idea with a bit of market research, and keyword research.
  2. Buy one or more domain names related to those keywords
  3. Set up the hosting, and install my default install of wordpress
  4. Find/Create some content for the site.
  5. Start a new auto responder on AWeber and put the form on the site
  6. Find a product to sell and put a link to it on the site
  7. Promote the site and get traffic.

With a bit of practice this process, start to finish, takes about 2 hours. With some luck the site will be making money in a week or less.

… The best things I’ve bought to make money online with internet marketing are also the cheapest. The $2000 courses and $100 software help, but the $10/month hosting and email service is a far better investment.
